We run both spring and fall calving herds with strict adherence to 65 day breeding seasons twice a year. Open cows are not rolled from herd to herd. Sometimes the “one strike, you’re out” rule costs us some very good cows, but by sticking to this disciplined practice we have seen excellent gains in whole herd conception rates, particularly females that settle after first service.
