Rock Creek Cattle Company is a family owned farming and ranching operation in the rolling hills of central Graham County, Kansas. Our headquarters are located six miles west of Hill City on Highway 24. During the fall of 1996 we began construction of a 1,000 head backgrounding feedlot and started custom feeding calves mid-summer 1997. As our cultivated acres and cowherd grew through the years, we ceased our custom feeding enterprise and today utilize our pens for our own cattle.
We have used artificial insemination and selective breeding for the past 20 years to produce Angus-based black and black baldie females that possess traits for fertility, calving ease, good disposition and fleshing ability. Moderate-framed, maternal Hereford and Simmental genetics have been incorporated into our herd to produce both F1 and F2 baldie heifers that excel in economically beneficial traits. We use tried and true bloodlines and value consistency and uniformity. While we concentrate on the production of females, we select sires that will also produce excellent feed efficiency and carcass characteristics in our steer calves.
